Group 2 Proposed Code Changes Posted -
Hearings scheduled  for September 13 & September 27, 2019
The State Building Code Council has scheduled hearing dates for the Group 2 code changes (IRC, IMC, UPC and WSEC-Residential). The September 13 hearing will be held in Spokane at the Center Place Regional Events Center and the September 27 hearing will be held at the DES Building in Olympia. Group 1 Code Change Final Adopted Changes to be posted shortly
The State Building Code Council voted on the final rules for the adoption of the 2018 International Building Code, International Fire Code and the Washington State Energy Code (Commercial) on July 26, 2019. The final language will be posted in September.

Interim Changes for WSEC, IBC and IFC Go Into Effect July 1, 2019
The State Building Code Council has adopted changes to clarify provisions in the 2015 WSEC-Commercial, add provisions to the IBC and IFC pertaining to heavy timber construction, and to add provisions for use of NFPA 130 for transit and passenger rail systems. The changes will go into effect July 1, 2019. See the Rulemaking page for details of these changes.

The State Building Council
is a state agency created by the legislature to provide independent analysis and objective advice to the legislature and the Governor's Office on state building code issues.  The Council establishes the minimum building, mechanical, fire, plumbing and energy code requirements necessary to promote the health, safety and welfare of the people of the state of Washington, by reviewing, developing and adopting the state building code.
