12-02-2009 : | SEE REPLACEMENT PHARMACEUTICAL CONTRACT 09009, EFFECTIVE JANUARY 1, 2010. TRANSITION PERIOD For MMCAP members currently using Cardinal that will be continuing with Cardinal, the transition to the terms of the new agreement will occur on 1/1/2010. For MMCAP members that are currently using another MMCAP-contracted PPV that have selected Cardinal as their new PPV, the transition to Cardinal will occur no later than 3/1/2010. A representative from Cardinal will be contacting you shortly to begin the transition process. TRAINING SESSIONS MMCAP will be scheduling new agreement training sessions in the next few weeks to acquaint you with the new Cardinal agreement and to answer your questions. The new agreement has been posted on MMCAP’s website so that you can review it prior to the training sessions. 12-02-2009 : | The new Cardinal rebid contract will be signed by 11/30 or 12/1. Unlike all the other contracts, the Cardinal contract will go into effect on January 1, 2010. However, the other PPVs don’t have a start date at this time. | |
11-13-2009 : | MMCAP updates the membership every month through their newsletter and state conference calls and have updated the Advisory Board every month. MMCAP had three calls specifically with the states that choose AmerisourceBergen as the negotiations and agreement language were progressing slower than the other prime vendors. Regarding Cardinal, we are finishing a few agreement clauses that both sides have been red-lining and anticipate the agreement signing by November 30 which means states that are currently utilizing Cardinal would transition to the new agreement no later than January 1, 2010. | |

07-01-2009 : | Because of the concurrent generic product contract roll, an overwhelming number of requests from our membership to provide adequate time for a smooth transition for Participating States that MAY be making a wholesaler change, and additional time for MMCAP to perform through negotiations, MMCAP has received internal approval to process contract extensions of all Prime Vendor contracts (AmerisourceBergen, Cardinal Health, and Morris & Dickson). The contracts are extended from 6/30/09 to 12/30/09. While we left an extra buffer in the event of any snags, it is our intent to have all contracts executed by September 1, 2009 with a transition period of up to 3 months. | |

04-08-2009 : | Prime Vendor Selection process is well underway for the State of Washington. Both potential bidders; AmerisourceBergen and Cardinal Health were interviewed on March 24, 2009 by the Washington State Stakeholder Committee. The committee was represented by the followign State Agencies: DSHS, DOC and King County Jail. The PPV Committee for Washington have completed the initial phase of the evaluation and scoring for both vendors. However - MMCAP has decided to proceed with final negotiations to get the best overall price/value bidding outcome. MMCAP will have an outcome to final negotations in approximately 3 weeks (end of April). The current pharmaceutical contract with Cardinal Health will expire on June 30, 2009. - Washinton State will embark on a final evaluation/scoring to address the final negotiation process managed by MMCAP. | |

09-10-2008 : | Posted on Aug 29, 2008 - MMCAP Rabies Vaccine Shortage Update. There has been a reduced national rabies vaccine supply over the past several months. Beginning August 29, 2008, Sanofi Pasteur in coordination with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) will resume shipping IMOVAX® Rabies, Rabies Vaccine for post-exposure prophylaxis only. Customers should call 1-800-VACCINE (1-800-822-2463) if interested in ordering. A Rabies Post-Exposure Form will need to be completed and faxed to the number on the form. RabAvert rabies vaccine from Novartis Vaccines is available for post-exposure prophylaxis only. To ensure adequate risk assessments at the local level, MMCAP members will be required to obtain a confirmation code from state or local health departments before ordering RabAvert from Novartis Vaccines. At the request of the CDC, a small portion of the rabies vaccine supply has been reserved for high priority pre-exposure, which will be managed by the CDC. Please remember that this discount applies to direct purchases from Merck Vaccine only (you will not get contract pricing through your MMCAP-contracted wholesaler). In honor of National Cervical Cancer Month, Merck Vaccine is offering a special limited-time special on direct purchases of Gardasil (Human Papillomavirus Quadrivalent [Types 6, 11, 16, and 18] Vaccine). MMCAP members must purchase a minimum of 70 doses of Gardasil in a single order per shipping location directly from Merck Vaccine between January 1, 2008 and February 15, 2008 to qualify for a 2% discount on those doses. Customers cannot combine packaging configurations (e.g., packaging containing 1 single dose 0.5-mL vial, 10 single dose 0.5 mL-vials, and 6 single dose 0.5-mL syringes) to meet the 70 dose minimum. Merck Vaccine's payment terms are 2% 90 net 91, meaning that an additional 2% discount is available if the invoice is paid within 90 days or less. Examples are: Family awards for generic antipsychotics; Dual awards for seizure, heart, and blood thinning medications; No glass or metal for correctional facilities (although the proposals do not specifically indicate packaging type, some of the members making the award may know the product’s package type).
