11-09-2009 : | Recall on Specific Philips HeartStart FR2+ AED Devices Philips Healthcare is conducting a voluntary recall of certain HeartStart FR2+ automated external defibrillators. These devices may contain a memory chip that can fail, rendering the defibrillator inoperable. Philips Healthcare was previously on a state contract managed by General Administration and it is possible that some public agencies might have one of the recalled defibrillators. The recalled models are M3860A and M3861A. There have been no reported incidents during emergency use of the recalled devices, and no injuries to users or patients. The problem has been detected during a periodic self-test or a battery insertion test. | |
08-14-2009 : | Notified from Cardiac Science Marketng Representative; Jennifer Murschel, of AED parts no longe available due to obsolencence, effective June 2009. AED Vivalink, p/n 9001 & 9004 and First Save p/n 9100 and 9110. Although these items are no longer listed as product lines under the State AED Contract with Cardiac Science, state agencies my have these older units on-site. Is so, it should be noted the agency may want to consider changing these units out to more current AED systems that offer available parts replenishment. | |

Philips Healthcare is announcing as of May 18, 2009 orders for the HeartStart FR2+ (M3860A, M3861A, M3840A and M3841A) Automated External Defibrillator (AED) will no longer be accepted. After nine years on the market, the FR2+ is being discontinued. Philips will continue to honor the standard five- year warranty for all currently installed FR2+ AEDs, as well as the optional two-year extension available in the United States. Supplies, training accessories, and technical support for the FR2+ will continue to be available. | |

Philips has to revisit the terms and conditions, but does not foresee any problem with the renewal. Advised Philips the terms and conditions were agreed upon at the time of contract inception. Thus far it has been Philips standard procedure to review all terms again for all contract amendments. Philips is trying to implement a change whereby they will not have to revisit review of the states previously agreed upon terms, conditions, specifications.
