This contract is for use only by Washington State Ferries (WSF) with extension provisions not to exceed 5/9/2016. An extension offer was sent to Harris Electric for an additional term of twenty four (24) months from 5/10/21012 through 5/10/2014. Total vendor reported sales for this term: $795,343.00. The extension request response from the contractor included a cost adjustment request of approximately 2% due to a cost of living increase allowed in their union labor contract. The request included an appropriate PPI. The increase in labor rates affected per the attachment Tab C noted in red font. WSDOT recommended acceptance of cost adjustment request. However when comparing purchases conducted by this office against past contract pricing under Contract 11104. The current price is up by .38% resulting from enhanced technology and equipment upgrades now included with the radar unit as standard features. Cost Avoidance: The estimate of $1.14 million given as an estimated usage figure resulted in the bid process yielding WSF a savings of 9.25% which amounts to a $96,476.00 savings.
