Due to the volatility of the latex market, it is recommended that customers begin the process of moving away from latex and utilizing Nitrile for their medical exam gloves. The latex market has seen unprecedented pricing over the past year and there appears to be no immediate end in sight for this commodity. Per the telecom on 2/2/10 with state glove contractor, Ms. Irene Reyes, the MMCAP McKesson contract now reflects an exclusion notification for gloves. Washington State is one of several participating states on that utilize the MMCAP multi-state contract. McKesson is an MMCAP contractor that offers hospital and medical supplies. However, gloves have now been removed from McKesson's supply offering for Washington's State Agencies specifically; in an effort to give a 100% commitment to the Washington State Glove Contract 07704. In addition, McKesson's Current Contract Information (CCI) was updated to reflect this change as of 2/2/2010. |

Excel Gloves attended the Supplier Diversity Summit for DSHS at the Tacoma Convention Center on October 28, 2009. The contractor expressed concerns as to why DSHS Eastern and Western Hospitals no longer use the state glove contract, but instead use the HSSA contract which is a Group Purchasing Oranization. Contracts Adminsitrator will be working with DSHS management to revisit the option of having both hospitals reconsider use of the state contract for gloves. More to follow-up on this subject. |
