Contract Summary

On March 23, 2026, the Director of the Department of Enterprise Services (DES) granted an exception to competitive solicitation requirements pursuant to RCW 39.26.125(7) to contract directly with the Office of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (ODHH)-approved independent American Sign Language (ASL) interpreters.
DES will collaborate with ODHH to provide a rolling sign-up sheet to contract with current ODHH-approved ASL interpreters, as well as newly ODHH-approved ASL interpreters.
All contracts will be on substantially the same terms and have a term end date of March 31, 2032.

Contract Scope
This contract is for Sign Language Interpreter Services through Independent Contractors.

Interpreting services can be delivered in multiple modalities. This contract offers the following:
    • In-Person Interpreting (IPI)
    • Video Interpreting (VI)

How to Use this Contract
Purchasers requesting sign language interpreter services are encouraged to submit an Interpreter Services Request using the appropriate online form below:
    General Interpreter Requests | Apple Health Interpreter Requests | Crucial/Emergency Interpreter Requests

At a minimum, submitted interpreter requests should contain:
    1. Date, time, and duration of the Appointment;
    2. Location of the Appointment;
    3. Purchaser’s name, place of business, and contact information;
    4. Name(s) of the Customer(s), to the extent known at the time of the Request;
    5. Nature and venue format of the Appointment, such as a one-on-one meeting, a conference, or webinar;
    6. Name and contact information of the Customer, should that individual be different than the Purchaser;
    7. Preferred Interpreter(s) (must be an awarded contractor), if any; and
    8. A prior authorization number if it is an Apple Health request.
